I am in shock. I can’t believe that she’s gone. This morning I was procrastinating on writing a paper for one of my classes, so I picked up Parable of the Sower to get inspiration from Octavia Butler (via Olamina). Then, later, I was talking with my mom on the phone and she told me that Ms. Butler had passed.

“All that you touch, you change.” I have been a fan of science fiction my entire life. Octavia Butler has been my favorite author since Kindred. She touched me in a way no other author had. She changed me as no other author ever will. For years I’ve thought about hosting a fansite dedicated to Octavia Butler; today I build this site for her and for me.
